Bear Creek Lake Park (BCLP) is a nature park managed by the City of Lakewood at C470 and Morrison Road. Several Scouting units use the park for camping, hiking, fishing, picnicking, bike rides, etc. It’s a great resource in a very convenient location, running just east of the hogback that runs along the west side of town along C470.
Park Naturalist Caroline Davis is looking for some help that I believe would make a very nice Eagle Project(s). BCLP runs a Junior Naturalist Camp all summer, and they have 3 or 4 patio tables and benches that need to be refurbished (sanded and sealed). They would also like to build a pergola or some other shade providing structure over the patio they use for classes and other functions. They would like to get the benches taken care of a soon as possible, as there is a risk of splinters and such, and so someone needs to jump on this quickly.
I believe there are other potential projects at the park that could be Eagle projects, and Ms. Davis would be a good contact if you are looking for a project, even if this one does not work for you or your Scouts. You can contact her at 303-697-2548 or cardav@Lakewood.org.
